Although there is only one tournament that I know of that has a 65+ division, we are happy to announce that this Golden Girl team participated in the 2001 United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Tournament held September 14-16 in Gallatin, TN. The Golden Girls Team came in 2nd place. Here's a photo of the team in 2001 at the tournament:
In 2001 there were four 65+ teams participating in the USSSA Sr. Women's World Tournament also in Gallatin, TN. The four teams were from Louisiana, Michigan, Florida and Virginia. Louisiana came out on top with Golden Girls finishing in 2nd place. If anyone knows of any other tournament that has a 65 division or if anyone would like some information concerning this team, please contact Beth Hersey on email: bandghersey@erols.com.
Our first tournament was in Charleston, SC and we came in 2nd place
behind our nemesis, Florida Spirit. Then we headed toward Charleston, WV
for the Olympic Qualifier. We had lots of fun and even won the game in
the last
inning from the West Virginia Team. More fun was had when four teams from
the Golden Girls went to Gallatin, TN. This is an awesome tournament and
getting bigger and bigger each year. We came in 4th place with a record
of
3 wins and 3 losses. Got to do better in 2003.

In 2003 the 65's went to Charleston, the Senior Olympics, and Tennessee and HAD FUN in all these tournaments.
